Can a woman recite the Quran during her menstrual cycle?

The majority (Hanafi, Hanbali, Shafi'i) say no. The Maliki school and scholars like Ibn Taymiyya and Ibn Uthaymin permit it. If abstaining would significantly impact memorization or spirituality, following the permissive opinion privately is acceptable. Touching the physical mushaf is prohibited by all schools for anyone without wudu — use a screen, gloves, or cover instead.
